How to Open Your First Card Pack — Beginner's Guide
There's a special kind of excitement in tearing open a pack of cards. You don't know what's inside, and that's the whole point. In Streambinder, that first pack is five real artists, tracks or albums from your country's charts, and one of them could be a star you've had on repeat for months.
This guide shows you how to open your first card pack and the simple habits that will help your collection grow fast from day one.
Before you start: a free account
Streambinder runs in your browser at streambinder.com. There's nothing to download, and on your phone you can add it to your home screen so it opens like an app. You'll want a free account right away: it keeps your collection safe and lets you play with friends, earn coins and claim your daily rewards.
Pick your country's edition, because cards are built from what people listen to where you live. The US edition is full of American heavyweights; the UK, Canadian, Australian and Indian editions each have their own local stars.
How to open your first card pack
Your first session is simple:
- Head to the home screen. You'll see your free packs waiting. You start with 5 in reserve.
- Tap "Open a free pack". Five cards come out, one by one.
- Watch the last card. For your first 5 packs, the fifth card is guaranteed to be Rare or better. It's a nice head start.
- Check your collection. Every new card lands there, sorted by type: artists, tracks and albums.
Then open the next one, and the next. Free packs recharge one every 10 minutes, up to 5 in reserve, so there's no reason to save them: an unopened full reserve is a pack you're not earning.
Reading your cards
Each card shows who or what it is, its rarity and its stream count. The six rarities, from most to least common, are Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic, and they follow real streaming numbers: the more total Spotify streams something has, the rarer it is.
So if you pull a Common from an artist you don't know, don't shrug. That's how the game helps you discover music. And if you see a card glitter, congratulations: you've found a Shiny, the holographic version that shows up about once in 300 cards.

Coins: your second source of packs
When your free reserve runs dry, you can still open packs with coins. A pack costs 100 coins. Here's where they come from:
- Selling duplicates. You'll pull the same card more than once. Keep one copy, sell the rest. Higher rarities sell for more, and Shiny cards are never sold automatically.
- Games. The daily blind test and Higher or Lower pay one coin per correct answer, up to a daily cap.
- The daily streak. Claim your reward every day for 10 coins, with free 10-card packs on days 7, 14, 21 and 28 of the 28-day cycle.
Five habits for a great start
The first days set the pace. These habits make a real difference:
- Come back regularly. A pack every 10 minutes adds up. Checking in a few times a day keeps your reserve from capping out.
- Never break the streak. Miss a day and you're back to day 1. Those 10-card packs on day 7 are worth the reminder.
- Sell duplicates, not discoveries. Commons can climb. An owned card never loses its rarity, but it can move up if the track keeps growing.
- Build a wishlist. Tap the heart on cards you're missing. Your friends can see it, and you'll be notified when one goes up for auction.
- Turn on notifications. On your phone, the game can tell you about new drops, trades and auctions so you don't miss a limited volume.
Play with what you pull
Your cards aren't just for display. Once you have enough of them, the Games tab opens up:
- the daily blind test, with 25 clips taken from tracks in your own collection and 4 possible answers each;
- Higher or Lower, where you guess which of two cards has more streams;
- Top Charts and the Weekly bet, two ways to challenge friends;
- the Fantasy League, where you draft a captain artist and 4 tracks and score on real streaming growth.
The more you collect, the richer these games get. If the blind test is calling you, read our music quiz tips before your first round.
Your first goal
Don't try to complete everything at once: each edition is huge. Set a small goal instead, like collecting every track from one favorite artist, or pulling your first Epic. Small wins keep the fun going, and every Monday the stream counts update and the charts move.
Your reserve is already full. Open your first pack and see who's waiting inside.
